I met Chuck & Suzi Gass at their cousin’s wedding I was photographing last October.  You can tell right away that they are fantastic people. I didn’t expect anything less because I am so fond of other members of their family. As soon as the tornado’s were over I instantly thought of Ashley, Savannah & Nick, and Sophie. They are really the only people I “know” in the Ringgold area. Once we received power on Saturday and began to watch the news I was horrified at the photographs of Ringgold, Ga they were showing. There was NOTHING left…and I mean nothing. I finally heard from Ashley and was so relieved everyone was alright. After getting my own family and house back together I got on Facebook knowing it would be saturated with photo’s, videos, and comments about these horrible tornado’s we just encountered.  Instantly, I had a lump in my throat and my eye’s began to water when I saw this video of the tornado in Ringgold, Ga. How could something of this magnitude end up in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee?

This is the Tornado that demolished and leveled Ringgold Georgia. Several Business, Ringgold High School and many homes leveled and flattened. Death toll at the time of this writing is 15 and expected to be more.

Below are all of the details Chuck has posted to Facebook.

YOU'RE HEART WILL BE TOUCHED. Operation Mission of Compassion will roll through Catoosa County in the wee hours Saturday, May 7th. I know that none of you have ever heard of Mission of Compassion but let me introduce you. This not for profit organization is based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Their mission is to go and love people, helping them to cope with their loss and suffering. They travel to small communities and deliver supplies to towns ravaged by natural disaster. Having seen our devastation, the local television and radio stations in Tulsa have donated air time for M.O.C. to ask for donations to gather and bring to Ringgold and Apison!! Are you speechless? Tulsa, Ok wants to help OUR area! We will set up command at Davis Cattle Co. on Ooltewah Ringgold Road. We are asking for man power to go out to these homes and supply these families with what they need. Along with what they will be bringing, we will also accept donations from locals at Davis Cattle Co. throughout the upcoming week. Many items are needed: Bibles, Non perishable food items, dog food, cat food, first aid supplies, water, gently used clothing, new socks and underwear, batteries, flashlights, toiletries, towels, washrags, garbage bags, light bulbs, gloves, buckets, cleaning supplies, diapers, formula, paper towels, sun screen, bug spray etc.

CANDLELIGHT VIGIL: Beginning at 8:00 pm on Saturday, May 7th we will gather in the arena at Davis Cattle Co. for a candle light vigil. We would like to ask the students, faculty and staff of Ringgold middle as well as Ringgold high school to attend along with the students, faculty and staff from Lakeview Ft. Oglethorpe, Heritage and Apison. It is time to unite, embrace & uplift our grieving communities. I extend a personal invitation to those families & friends who lost loved ones so that we may remember and rejoice the lives of those who were taken from us too soon. I invite ministers, youth ministers, & choirs to help perform our service and deliver a message that helps each of us begin the healing process. I want to invite the Apison community, the business owners of Ringgold, any community who would like to be involved and the many who are grief stricken. I would like for those who have special words to share about lost loved ones to join us and speak. We want this to be a time to rejoice in the Lord together and comfort one another as a whole community.

SUNDAY, MAY 8 Mission of Compassion has asked to hold a Sunday morning church service in the arena at Davis Cattle Co. before they return back to Tulsa. In a time when our hearts feel so empty, the Lord restores all hope. Please come out and join us. Let us grieve for who we have lost and celebrate what we have to live for.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Thanks,
